How to Save Money on Your Rubbish Removal Job

by Monica Rogers

Not everyone has the time or the means to dispose of their rubbish at the local waste facility. And this means that you either hire a skip bin, which can be costly, or a residential waste removal firm. But if money is tight, rubbish removal might seem a little expensive. Fortunately, you can save money on your rubbish removal job by doing several things.

Separate Your Rubbish Into Types

Just as you do with your typical residential waste for your council bins, it's a good idea to separate your waste into different types. Your rubbish removal firm will need to do this anyway. This makes sorting the rubbish easy once they arrive at the waste facility to recycle and dump your rubbish.

Sort your waste into types. For instance, put paper and books together, as well as wooden items like shelving and cupboards. This will save time for the rubbish removal team.

Don't Leave Loose Items Lying Separately

Another time-waster and cost increaser is leaving items lying around in a chaotic mess. Try to put loose items in boxes or bags. As you do so, ensure that you keep certain rubbish types together.

Break Down Old Furniture

Bulky furniture takes up space in the vehicle, and it is more difficult and time-consuming to move. If you can, break furniture down into smaller pieces. Some items of furniture are easy to break down by hand. But if necessary, use a saw to cut large items into smaller pieces. This should help to lower the quote the rubbish removal firm gives you.

Put Your Rubbish Somewhere Easily Accessible

Location is also extremely important. Since time is money, especially for a rubbish removal firm, the easier your rubbish is to get to, the faster and cheaper your job will be. For instance, if you live at the end of a long driveway, find a way to carry your rubbish to the end of the driveway before the rubbish removal company arrives to pick it up.

Lighten the Load

Don't overload boxes with heavy items. This will increase the time it takes to finish your job. It can also increase the risk of accidents and injury. And if possible, get rid of some of the more awkward or heavy items yourself. You can give large items of furniture to neighbours or friends. And if you have an abundance of heavy items, separate them into easily manageable chunks or containers.
